Today is time to watch: Peppa Pig!
I believe that some people overlook the incredible power that cartoons can have when learning a new language, especially children's cartoons. I have a recommendation for a cartoon that I always watch when trying to master a new language. The cartoon I'll be talking about today is none other than the beloved Peppa Pig.
Peppa Pig is a popular British children's animated television series that follows the adventures of a young pig named Peppa and her family and friends. The show is aimed at preschool-aged children and features simple storylines, colorful animation, and themes of friendship, family, and learning through play. The show has gained a large international following and has spawned merchandise, books, and even theme parks.
There's no denying that cartoons are not just for entertainment purposes. They can be an incredibly valuable tool for language learners, as they can help with listening comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and overall language immersion. Peppa Pig, in particular, is an excellent choice for language learners of all ages due to its simple, easy-to-understand dialogue, colorful and relatable characters, and humorous storylines.
Watching Peppa Pig is a fantastic way to get accustomed to the rhythm and intonation of the language, as well as to learn new words and phrases. Plus, it's an enjoyable and stress-free way to learn, which can be especially helpful for beginners who might feel intimidated by more challenging materials.
Peppa Pig played a significant role in my English language learning journey. While some adults may find it hard to enjoy kids' cartoons, I have to confess that I absolutely love it. Sure, some of the characters can be a bit annoying at times, especially when Peppa is acting spoiled. However, overall, I think the writing is pretty good. I can relate to George and his obsession with dinosaurs, even though I'm not particularly fond of them. When I become obsessed with a subject, I become just like George. Additionally, I love the superhero called the Super Potato and his catchy songs. I find myself constantly thinking and speaking about him. While my boyfriend may find the show silly, I believe that the power of cartoons, especially kid's cartoons, should not be overlooked when it comes to language learning.
When it comes to learning a language through Peppa Pig, subtitles are a game-changer. They allow you to pick up words and phrases that you might not have noticed before or that you aren't yet familiar with. Unfortunately, finding Peppa Pig episodes with subtitles in your target language can be a real challenge. I'm currently studying Norwegian, and I haven't been able to find any episodes with Norwegian subtitles yet. However, in my search, I stumbled upon a fantastic YouTube channel that has added Spanish subtitles to the Spanish version of Peppa Pig! If you're interested in learning Spanish, I highly recommend checking it out. Here's the link to the playlist:

I tried to convince my Norwegian boyfriend to transcribe the Norwegian Peppa Pig episodes for me, but he only did one episode before getting bored. However, I might be able to post the transcript of that episode later on. Keep an eye out!
Kan du vær så snill å be om at jeg legger ut transkripsjonen? Jeg kan poste den for deg!!
